The number of men present are represented by the width of the colored zones: they are further written across the zones. The color blue designates the men of the Army of Occupation, dark blue under General Scott, purples for men under Generals Wool, Kearny, Doniphan and Captain Frémont. Also shown at the botton are the order of US and Mexican presidents that ruled during this period of time.
